    Longville girl dies in head-on crash

    A 17-year-old Longville girl died June 20 in a head-on collision on Highway 34 in Hubbard County.

    According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Alyssa Marie Wheeler was driving a 2012 Chevy Cruz east near Eagle Bend Road at about 10:05 a.m.., and Don Sherman, 50, of Akeley, was driving a 2015 Ford F150 west, also on Highway 34.

    The Ford 150 crossed the double yellow line and struck the Chevy head-on.Wheeler was fatally injured, while Sherman suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Sanford Medical Care.

    The State Patrol reports that air bags deployed in both vehicles, seat belts were being used, and alcohol was not involved in the crash.
