The annual tax-free weekend, held on the first Friday and Saturday of August each year, removes the sales tax from shoes and clothing priced less than $100. Klein named 'Iowan of the Day' for 2024 Iowa State Fair
(Treynor) -- A southwest Iowa resident is among those holding the title "Iowan of the Day" at the 2024 Iowa State Fair. John Klein, an active member of the Treynor Optimist Club, was one of 10 nominees to receive recognition for this year's fair and will be recognized on August 12th at noon on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage. Founded in 1997, the Iowan of the Day award allows the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation to recognize the state's outstanding individuals. Members of the Optimist Club nominated Klein. Klein tells KMA News he was surprised and honored to receive the recognition.
