Hawks in the Olympics | Stewart wins first medal for Hawkeyes in Paris
The first former Hawkeye in this year’s Summer Olympics in Paris has medaled as Eve Stewart won bronze with Great Britain in the women’s eight rowing final on Saturday. Stewart, of Amsterdam, Netherlands, rowed for Iowa from 2016 to 2019 and led the program to a handful of its most successful years.
Meteorologist Travis Clark-Smith tracks chances for storms on Saturday night
It's a hot one today! Sunny and dry conditions are expected this evening ahead of a cold front that will bring showers and storms into the area tonight. 60 MPH wind gusts and quarter size hail will be the main concerns from any storm that manages to gain severe criteria. A level 1 risk for severe weather is in place for the viewing area except for along and west of I-35 where a level 2 risk is in place. Partly cloudy skies and warm temps with a slight chance for storms on Sunday before cooler, less humid air returns to the region Monday, along with a good chance for showers and storms. High temperatures will plummet to the low to mid 70s through next week. In addition to cooler weather, the door will be open for a few rounds of showers through the week.

The Iowa Hawkeyes made the cut for the final nine schools on four-star small forward Winters Grady’s list. The 6-foot-7, 200 pound small forward is out of Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif. On3’s Joe Tipton broke the news that Iowa was among Grady’s final nine choices. Per Tipton’s report, Iowa joins Arizona State, Colorado, Creighton, Michigan, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon and USC. State Auditor Rob Sand hosted a town hall meeting at Carroll’s Southside Park on Thursday afternoon to discuss his office’s latest work for the state.
