Iowa Heatwave to Bring 90+ Degrees, Storms Possible in Northern Areas
Des Moines, IA – Iowa is set to experience a significant heatwave over the weekend and into the start of the week, with temperatures soaring across much of the state. Residents should prepare for very warm to hot conditions from today through Monday, with afternoon heat index values ranging between 90 to 100 degrees. The highest temperatures will be concentrated over central and southern Iowa on Sunday and Monday, creating potentially hazardous conditions for outdoor activities.

With manyhomes and businesses without power due to hurricane force winds that tore through the area Wednesday night, Omaha's Weather Leader has issued Saturday an "impact" day, and Sunday and Monday "severe" weather days.
ADM’s Hagedorn Acquires Unanimous Softball 1st Team All-Conference
A soon-to-be junior on the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team accomplished high honors. The Tigers’ Sophomore Lauren Hagedorn was recently voted unanimously for First Team All Conference. Hagedorn played in all 40 games for ADM this season, where she stepped up to the plate for 123 at-bats, scoring 25 runs off 53 hits. She tallied 28 singles, 11 doubles, one triple, and led the Tigers with 13 home runs, along with 33 RBI’s.
Tomorrow is the Main Day of Activities for 50107 Summerfest in Grand Junction
As the annual Grand Junction celebration gets underway today, tomorrow is a full day of festivities. The 50107 Summerfest begins with a 5K run/walk with free registrations at 8:30am and the race to start at 9am at Fouch Agriservice. Also from 9am-noon is the book sale at the library and from 9am-3pm is a petting with cow pie bingo. At 10am the Grand Junction Horizons Club will serve breakfast at the community center with an eggless casserole, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, and a beverage for $5, followed by the parade at 11am.
