MDARD shares how you can prevent the spread of Spotted Lanternfly
UPPER MICHIGAN (WLUC) - The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is taking measures to prevent the spread of spotted lanternflies statewide. MDARD said there have been no confirmed cases in the U.P. However, they said right now the state is setting traps in areas that are considered high risk to prevent them from spreading. They feed on fruit, ornamental and woody trees, with tree-of-heaven being one of its preferred hosts. Currently the two cities affected are Pontiac and Lambertville. MDARD Invasive Species Prevention and Response Specialist Robert Miller explained why the organization is keeping a close eye on them.
