Nebraska’s season openers through the years
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will kick off the 2024 season on Saturday when they host the UTEP Miners at Memorial Stadium. This will be the first season opener Nebraska has played at home since 2019. Nebraska has a solid track record in season openers. The Huskers have won 98 out of 134 season openers. Their record in home season openers is even more impressive at 85-14-3. Since 1980, Nebraska has lost only twice when playing its season opener at home (1986 and 2015). Jefferson Man Sentenced to Probation For Not Claiming a Jackpot Due to Owing the State Money
A Jefferson man was recently sentenced to probation for a May incident. According to court documents, 36-year-old Jeremy Andrews pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree fraudulent practices. He had a two year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. The probation sentence was to run consecutively with another case where he was sentenced to serve 20 days in the Greene County Jail after being convicted of an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred.
One Person Killed, Three Others Injured in Palo Alto County Accident
(Palo Alto Co.) One person died and three others were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Palo Alto County Friday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says 32-year-old Desiree Angela Sternhagen, of Janesville, Minnesota, was driving a 2013 Kia southbound on 480th Avenue and failed to stop and yield at the intersection with 370th Street. 34-year-old Mathia Kay Nieves, of Emmetsburg, was driving a 2018 Mitsubishi westbound on 370th Street and was struck in the passenger side by the Kia.
