    June 5, 1934 – June 25, 2024

Clarence Laverne “Tod” Kenagy was born June 5, 1934, in Hubbard, Oregon to parents, Roy and Zelma (West) Kenagy. He lived in the Whiskey Hill area of Hubbard, then on a dairy farm at the coast for about 8 years, returning to the Whiskey Hill area and was one of the first to graduate 8th grade in the newly built schoolhouse. Tod then attended Canby High School until his senior year when he returned to the coast. He graduated from Nestucca High School in 1952. He participated in many sports, FFA, choir, and drama.

Tod met his future wife Carol Hansen while attending Canby High School. He joined the Air Force in 1953, served during the Korean War (stationed in Japan) and was honorably discharged in 1957. He proposed to Carol by mail sending the engagement ring along with his proposal letter. They married on October 8, 1954, while he was home on leave. Tod and Carol had 6 children. They lived in Montana and Alaska and eventually returned to Oregon. They lived in Salem and Woodburn, and later settled in the Canby area. Tod became a journeyman electrician and worked for Strubar Electric and for Beck Electric for over 20 years. In the early 80’s Tod ventured out on his own as an electrical contractor and had a thriving electrical contracting business until his retirement in 1998.

Tod was a lover of the outdoors, an avid fisherman and hunter. He had many hunting and fishing trips in Alaska, Canada, and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and his hunting adventures took him as far away as Mongolia and South Africa. Tod was a giving person, always looking out for anyone that was in need, especially children in need. He was an annual donor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Tod is survived by his 4 daughters, Debbie Jerde (Dwight), Cindy Hill (Eric), Beccie Hopper (Eric), and Carolyn Shearer (Mark), 10 grandchildren, Jason Closner (Brittney), Kristina Sheava Craig (Jessi), Timothy Hopper (Rayann), Matthew Hill, Kristopher Craig, Cameron Jerde (Caitlin), Minda Jerde (Sachi), Alan Hopper, Katie Shearer, and Kyler Shearer, and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Anthony, 1959, Timothy, 1980, and his loving wife of over 51 years, Carol, 2006.
