    Zone 4 playoffs

Hudson 1, Milford 0: Connor Madden fired a two-hitter and struck out six as host Post 100 completed a shutout sweep of second-seeded Post 59 and advanced to the final series.

Chase Donahue's RBI single in the first inning accounted for the scoring. Marshall Kehlhen singled, stole second base and took third on a fly ball by Bobby Long (2 hits) for Hudson, which routed Milford, 14-0, on Friday.

Ian Carter struck out seven while scattering six hits for Milford.

Hudson faces the winner of Sunday's North County/Leominster in the best-of-three Zone 4 championship series.

North County 11, Leominster 1: No. 9 hitter Colin Lake hit a two-run single in a four-run bottom of the fourth inning and walked with the bases loaded during a six-run fifth as North County tied the best-of-three semifinal series at McLaughlin Park.

North County's Jacob Paskell went 3 for 3, and Sam Curtis' RBI single in the fifth clinched the walk-off mercy win.

Cam Marshall was 2 for 3, doubled and scored for top-seeded Leominster, which faces North County in the rubber game at 11 a.m. Sunday at McLaughlin.

    Senior Babe Ruth

    New England Tournament

PNJ All-Stars 11, Vermont 1; PNJ All-Stars 5, Norwood 1: The tournament hosts needed two wins in a day to get to the championship round, and they did just that with stellar pitching at Tivnan Field.

PNJ needs to defeat Stamford (Conn.) twice Sunday to take the title. First game begins at 10 a.m., with second game, if necessary, slated to begin at 1.

Riley Landry scattered five hits without allowing an earned run in the nightcap, striking out 10 without issuing a walk.

Chris Palermo doubled, tripled and drove in two runs, and Dale Nussey and Junior Ovalle also went 2 for 3

Owen Gray scattered four hits and struck out six in PNJ's first game, and Nussey (triple), Palermo (double) and Josh Farrell (2 hits) each drove in two runs. PNJ also took advantage of eight walks in the six-inning elimination game.

    Little League

    Major League state sectionals

Holden 5, Westfield 0: The District 4 champion blanked Westfield in an elimination game, avenging a loss to the D2 champ in the Section 2 opener and advancing to Sunday's final at unbeaten District 1 champion Pittsfield.

If Holden wins the 1 p.m. game, the teams play again at 3 for a berth in the state Final Four, which starts Thursday at Deyermond Field in Andover.

    Futures Collegiate League

Norwich 3, Bravehearts 1: Hector Alejandro hurled a no-hitter while striking out five as the host Sea Unicorns (28-16) topped Worcester (22-23) for the second night in a row, the Bravehearts' fifth straight loss.

Alejandro, who threw only 86 pitches, allowed just an unearned run in the fifth inning, when Dylan LaPointe was hit by a pitch, went around to third on an infield error and scored on Wyatt Hoffman's sacrifice fly to right.

Alejandro, now 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA with Norwich, will be a senior at UConn in the fall. He issued his only walk with two out in the ninth, to Henry DiGiorgio.

    International League

Lehigh Valley 4, WooSox 3: Ryan Zeferjahn walked Cal Stevenson with bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning as Worcester fell to the IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park.

Niko Kavadas hit his 17th home run of the season in the fourth, giving the WooSox a 3-2 lead. Lehigh Valley pushed a run across in the sixth to tie it.

The IronPigs' Kody Clemens, son of former Red Sox ace Roger Clemens, clouted his sixth homer of the season in the first inning.

    Little League

    Junior League East Regionals

Burkett 7, West Nyack (N.Y.) 2: The District 4 champion improved to 3-1 in round-robin play by topping the New York state champion in the third day of round-robin play in Orange, Connecticut.

Burkett takes on Stafford Little League at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The New Jersey champions also enter the game at 3-1.
