If you've never heard of Caleb, you've likely seen at least 1 of his videos -- if not 100.

The 31-year-old New York City transplant, skyrocketed to viral fame in recent years through his YouTube Shorts and TikTok videos, asking passersby one very simple question:

"How much do you pay for rent in New York?"

For willing participants, Caleb goes inside strangers' homes for impromptu apartment tours, to see what rent buys in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Since launching his TikTok in 2019, Caleb has amassed over 6 million TikTok followers and nearly 2 million YouTube subscribers.

As "this generation's version of MTV Cribs", Caleb showcases homes and characters of all varieties, such as:

Hailey Kalil -- a popular social media figure and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

    Rent: $5,000 / month

Since becoming a viral sensation, known to many as "the NYC apartment tour guy", Caleb has been interviewed by ABC News and featured in architecturaldigest.com.

And recently, Caleb appeared in a YouTube Short on the popular YouTube channel, Colin and Samir (this time in front of the camera), to share what viral fame looks like from a financial standpoint.

In the 60-second clip, Caleb shares:

    • His biggest month on YouTube was $18,000 (for his vlogs)
    • In November of 2022, he made an additional $11,000 for his YouTube Shorts
    • His channel has earned a total of 143 million views

Although he didn't share his earnings from TikTok or the brand deals, sponsorships, and partnership deals that come along with amassing a large online audience, it gives a nice understanding of what going viral means for one's wallet.

Caleb has been making videos for 7 years and is one of the first viral stars to emerge from making short-form content. He's yet another example of how fast the internet landscape changes in our modern era.
