In recent years, Adam Sandler has become known for making some of the worst movies in Hollywood.

And although movies like Jack & Jill (which earned 1.5 stars on IMDB) or That's My Boy (garnering an audience score of just 20% on Rotten Tomatoes), despite all-star casts, may not be your cup of tea -- you may be missing the point.

With his billion-dollar production company, Happy Madison Productions, the now 56-year-old Brooklyn native now uses film as a way to hang out with his friends, family, and bring his wacky ideas to life.

Since his film debut in Going Overboard, in 1989, Adam Sandler has blessed the screens with comedic cult classics such as Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, and The Waterboy. And, if you look closely, you'll see a recurring cast made up of his friends and family.

    According to screenrant.com,

"The comedian has mostly stuck to an exclusive cast of actors that are involved in nearly all of Adam Sandler's movies. This short list includes Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, and longtime friends Kevin Nealon, Peter Dante, and Nick Swardson."

Although roles range from small to large, you can count on seeing a handful of these characters pop up in every one of Adam's movies. And, more recently, Adam makes sure to give his wife of 20 years, Jackie, and daughters, Sandy and Summer, bit parts as well.

To most of the world, creating a film is a daunting endeavour, the ability to create on-screen art and express powerful stories. But, Adam, having successfully worked in Hollywood for the better part of 3 decades, sees it as a working holiday, often filming in exotic locations to give his friends and family time for some R&R amongst their filming schedule.

In an interview with late-night host, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy asked,

"Are you at a point where you go -- when you decide to make a film -- you say, "I want to make this film somewhere where I can be on vacation?"

Adam responded with a big smile,

    "Yes."
