UFC Legend, Georges St. Pierres, Announces His Return to Competitive Martial Arts

George St. Pierre, the pride of St. Isoder, Quebec, Canada, hasn't fought inside the octagon since November of 2017.

But, this week, he announced his return to competitive martial arts. Instead of mixed martial arts, he will compete in a ju-jitsu match, for the UFC's new grappling league, UFC Fight Pass Invitational.

Alongside MMA journalist, Mark Raimondi, on ESPN's YouTube channel, Georges breaks down his dream matchup.

"It's a very specialized form of combat, it's very different than what I did in the past... I believe it will be someone from the UFC... that's what people want."

Although no opponent has been confirmed, Georges shared in another interview with ex-middleweight champion and former foe, Michael Bisping, on his YouTube channel, who the UFC is eyeing for the matchup -- and when.

"It will be December 09th [2023]... and apparently most of the fans and the UFC they would like me to grapple Nick Diaz."

As a legend of the sport, and former challenger to Georges' welterweight title, back in 2013, the Gracie ju-jitsu black belt, Nick Diaz, would make for quite an exciting matchup. And, as Nick Diaz is still under contract with the UFC, chances are the two parties will come to an agreement.

This style of fantasy matchup has become popular in recent years, with Mike Tyson boxing Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition boxing match, back in 2020. And, if all goes according to plan, you can see two mixed martial legends compete once again, this time focusing on a single discipline.
