Indoor air quality can quite literally dampen the mood at home , especially if you live in a humid environment. Whether your living space is prone to moisture, your bathroom has poor ventilation or you’re trying to stop annoying mold and mildew from growing, consider grabbing a dehumidifier. These nifty devices can trap that nasty, wet air, thus cooling down your home and clearing your airspace for fresh indoor clarity.

We found a particularly good one on sale right now for 18% off its list price . A smaller version of a Wirecutter best pick, the Frigidaire 35-pint dehumidifier covers 3,000 square feet, has a washable filter and is barely audible — “you can’t beat the quietness of this unit,” said one reviewer . Typically $219, you can grab it on sale today for $179 .

This easy-to-use dehumidifier has a panel that lets you control its fan speed and set a timer. It also shows you how full its 35-pint tank is so you know when it’s time to empty it, and it has an auto shut-off for when it’s full. Its filter captures dust from the air to ensure optimal performance, and it’s washable, so you won’t have to replace it over time.

“This dehumidifier works great!” said reviewer Amy . “Set up is so easy, and I had it running in no time. It was nice to see the humidity level dropping after we had this started. The water bucket filled up pretty fast, and it’s so easy to dump. The water bucket has a top handle that you can use to carry the bucket so you don’t spill it.” Several users say they’ve used this to clear up moist bathrooms and basements, and some even say it’s helped cool down their homes, reducing their use of air conditioning. If you need to clear the air, grab this humidifier on sale at Amazon before its discount expires, and keep reading for more promising reviews of this helpful Frigidaire.

More promising reviews of the Frigidaire 35-pint dehumidifier:

“ok - Where to begin. We bought this same unit last year that didn’t want to start when we set it up this year. Based on dehumidifiers poor performances overall, we bought an Asurion 2-year policy. The policy kicked in and we were given our purchase price within five (yes, FIVE) minutes of filing. From the reviews, we decided to try a Waykar unit. First one came and ran continually for DAYS w/o getting close to our 40% setting - and it was significantly louder than the Frigidaire. We sent it back and thought we’d try the large unit, Waykar 2000. OMG - could hardly talk above the noise that one gave off and IT didn’t do well getting the humidity lower than 48%. So, it went back - what a pain. We finally purchased the Frigidaire 2024 “updated” version of the unit we purchased last year. I’m sorry - you can’t beat the quietness of this unit. We bought another insurance policy that we expect we’ll need to use in the next couple years, but it’ll be worth the trouble for the large tank, quiet running, and it ACTUALLY gets the humidity down to 35% where I want it! We do not purchase insurance regularly from Amazon, but because dehumidifiers are SO unreliable, for us, it’s money well spent.” — Brechie

“I looked at dozens of different brands and almost bought a Waykar or a hOmelabs. I did extensive research into all three; honest technical reviews and comparisons. The Frigidaire always won on all of the points that were important to me; best for a basement, not as noisy on low fan, large water storage and the most energy efficient. Going on a week already, I could not be happier. This unit is very well built compared to others ;.( i.e. a Danby that I saw at Costco yesterday.) Solid performance, looks and construction. If this lasts another 8 years, I’ll be looking at buying yet another Frigidaire.” — Audiomixer

Replaced our basement Frigidaire dehumidifier which has been working flawlessly for many (many) years. Read reviews, but mostly chose this unit based on how well the last Frigidaire worked. First off ― it’s working great: quiet, more water removed than we expected, simple to plug-in-and-it-was-on, simple to empty. HOWEVER ... the booklet explains the multiple settings, and (just like our new printer) the actual tiny screen is not intuitive at all. We actually had to have the booklet in front of us to set timing/humidity level/etc etc etc and we are gonna need to have the booklet in front of us for any resets. SO in short, we are very happy with our purchase and it’s working above expectations, just know that the “software” requires some focus (which is frustrating).” — MGW

There are five of us and three of us live downstairs in the refurbished basement. There was so much moisture down there that mold was forming on the cement cold spots. NO MORE! We bought the dehumidifier and let it run for three days according to the instructions. After 12 hours the tank was full, we emptied it and let it run for another 24 hours; it was full again. In the last 24 hour period it was barely above the 1/4 mark and everything felt better. Now we just have it set at 35% humidity and check just once in a while.” — Larry B.

This dehumidifier works great! Set up is so easy, and I had it running in no time. It was nice to see the humidity level dropping after we had this started. The water bucket filled up pretty fast, and it’s so easy to dump. The water bucket has a top handle that you can use to carry the bucket so you don’t spill it. It’s semi loud but it’s in the basement so I don’t even care. It’s not as heavy as I expected and the wheels make it easy to roll around. I’ve already ordered another one to place elsewhere in the house. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a great dehumidifier for their house.” — Amy
