Brooke Shields’ Daughters React To Mom Being Kissed By ‘Pretty Baby’ Co-star Twice Her Age

Many celebrities like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have confessed that their kids refuse to watch some of their biggest blockbuster hits.

Apparently Brook Shields ’ daughters, Rowan and Grier, feel the same way about one of her most popular yet wildly controversial films “Pretty Baby,” and honestly it’s for good reason.

In the 1978 historical drama, Shields, now 59, portrayed a 12-year-old girl who was raised in a New Orleans brothel and forced into sex work.

Outrage from audiences over “Pretty Baby” has persisted following its release as it contains multiple inappropriate scenes, including Shields’ character having her virginity auctioned off at a brothel and a scene in which she appears completely nude.

“I don’t like this movie,” Grier, 18, told People in an interview published Thursday. “I’ve seen enough of it on TikTok. I would prefer not to watch my mom being sold, as an 11-year-old prostitute. I’d rather watch the funny and happy ones.”

Grier shared her complaints about another scene from the film, in which her mom shares a kiss with her older co-star, Keith Carradine, who was 27 at the time.

“That’s weird. She had to kiss someone [over] twice her age,” Grier remarked while Rowan, 21, argued their mom’s “stage kiss does not count as a real kiss.”

Shields then explained to Rowan that her co-star shared the same sentiment at the time.

“He told me it doesn’t count [as a first kiss] which was very sweet,” she recalled of Carradine. “He was probably struggling too.”

Rowan went on to share that she’s not “purposefully avoiding” watching her mom’s projects.

“It’s more like it never really crossed my mind to say, ‘Movie night, let’s watch “Pretty Baby.”’ I’m either watching ‘Love Island’ or a new movie, like ‘Minions’ or ‘Despicable Me.’ It’s not like I’m purposefully avoiding watching my mother. I loved ‘Mother of the Bride’ and ‘Castle for Christmas,’” she explained, listing off a few of her mom’s Netflix romantic comedies.

Despite her kiddos’ opinions on “Pretty Baby,” the “Sahara” actress explained why she considers the film to be her “best.”

“You know what the crazy thing is, this is the best movie I’ve ever been in,” she said in the video. “Like, it won the Palme d’Or. Like, it was the most beautiful cinematically.”
