JD Vance (R-Ohio) is continuing to make misogyny part of his brand , and his critics don’t think it’s going to work out well for him when women head to the polls.

Donald Trump’s running mate on Thursday mocked the intelligence of Vice President Kamala Harris , who sat down with CNN for her first major interview since becoming the Democratic nominee.

“BREAKING: I have gotten ahold of the full Kamala Harris CNN interview,” Vance wrote on social media, alongside a well-known 2007 video of a Miss Teen USA contestant struggling through an answer.

The attack was ugly on several levels. The woman in the video, Caitlin Upton, was widely ridiculed at the time, and later said she became severely depressed and considered suicide as a result.

Vance’s post received support from Donald Trump Jr., who shared it and added , “This is total Fake News from JD. We all know that Kamala isn’t that articulate.”

“JD Vance is really bad at this, isn’t he?” conservative commentator Charlie Sykes said of the attack.

“Apparently he doesn’t know that 52-55% of the electorate is female. Let’s not tell him,” commented George Conway, a prominent attorney formerly married to Trump ally Kellyanne Conway.

Another social media user wrote, “I am dumbstruck that this degree of misogyny is held by a candidate for the Vice Presidency. The GOP hates women, clearly and with gusto.”
