David Chalian, political director at CNN, said poor polling figures for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris among non-college-educated white voters is a “trouble sign” for the vice president ahead of the 2024 election.

Former president and current GOP nominee Donald Trump has a “huge” double-digit lead over Harris in that demographic in Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, Chalian noted on Wednesday’s broadcast of “CNN News Central,” citing new polling for the network by SSRS.

Trump is polling at 71% versus Harris’ 27% in Georgia.

In Arizona, Trump is at 65% compared with Harris’ 31%.

And in Nevada it’s 64% for Trump compared with 31% for Harris.

“White voters without college degrees, this is a Trump base constituency, obviously. You see his huge numbers with this group. You see that this is a trouble sign for Harris,” said Chalian.

The overall polling, however, showed support in key battleground states split between Harris and Trump.

Per CNN’s report on the polling, “an average of 15% of likely voters” are undecided, which indicates “a sizable share of voters could shift their views on the race as attention to the campaign rises and campaign activity, especially in these states, hits a fever pitch in the final nine weeks before Election Day.”

The fight in battleground states is “tight,” Chalian said later on CNN.
