Justin Timberlake To Plead Guilty To Lesser Charge In DWI Case: Reports

Justin Timberlake will reportedly plead guilty to a lesser charge related to his alleged drunken driving arrest in June after reaching a deal with prosecutors in New York.

The singer’s driving while intoxicated charge is being dropped and in exchange he will plead guilty to a traffic violation, The Associated Press reported Wednesday citing sources with direct knowledge of the deal hashed out in Long Island.

His new charge of Driving While Ability Impaired comes with a $300 or $500 fine, TMZ reported . His license will also remain suspended in New York for a year.

A representative with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to HuffPost that they expect Timberlake to enter a plea in court on Friday but they declined to comment further on the matter. A representative for Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke Jr., also declined comment when reached by HuffPost.

Burke last month denied that his client was intoxicated when he was pulled over on June 18 in Sag Harbor. The former NSYNC singer was accused of running a stop sign and veering out of his lane.

The 10-time Grammy winner told the officer who stopped him that he had had one martini and was following some friends home, according to previously released court documents.

The officer said Timberlake, 43, smelled of alcohol, had “bloodshot and glassy” eyes, and failed a field sobriety test. He allegedly refused to undergo a chemical test when asked.
