Elon Musk is holding the entertainment industry at fault for overlooking Sean “Diddy” Combs ’ alleged acts of sexual misconduct at the same time a new book is probing Musk’s own ties to the disgraced musician and hip-hop mogul.

The two men’s apparent friendship became a hot topic on social media Wednesday after Musk shared a link to a Daily Mail report that outlined some of the 120 lawsuits that are expected to be filed on behalf of people who say they were sexually abused by Combs and his associates.

“How many people in music & entertainment knew about this?” Musk wrote on X , the social media platform formerly known as Twitter which he now owns.

It didn’t take long for other users on the platform to respond with screenshots of a well-publicized excerpt from “ Character Limit: How Elon Musk Destroyed Twitter ,” written by New York Times reporters Kate Conger and Ryan Mac.

The book, published last month, includes a detailed chronicle of a conversation in which Musk boasted about his friendship with Combs to Revolt CEO Detavio Samuels, who had raised concerns over racist content on X.

“‘I don’t know if you know this, but Puff is an investor in Twitter,’ [Musk] said, using a nickname for Combs,” Mac and Conger write. “‘You know, he’s a good friend of mine. We text a lot.’”

As Conger and Mac also point out, Combs was among the many investors who backed Musk’s $44 billion takeover of Twitter in 2022. According to The New York Daily News, Combs contributed at least $10 million to the purchase.

Just months before Musk took over the platform, he and Combs were photographed together at a Dave Chappelle show in Los Angeles, where they were seated next to one another.

Combs was arrested and indicted by federal authorities in September on three counts of sex trafficking and racketeering. Prosecutors have accused him of abusing women, employees and others, allegedly threatening them for years in order “to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.”

    He has pleaded not guilty.
