Senior sharpshooter Seth Hicks has accumulated quite a lot of accolades during his time at Hughes Springs High School.

The talented Mustang plays tennis, constructs items in FFA and is on the Hughes Springs’ trap shooting team.

In February of this year, Hicks competed in trap, doubles trap and sporting clays during the 2024 San Antonio Junior Shootout.

Not only did he make the championship in sporting clays, but he also won a 3-way tie shoot off for first place in boys’ FFA and netted a $10,000 scholarship in the process.

Shooting clays is nothing new to Hicks. In his sophomore year he placed third overall out of more than 1,000 student shooters at the same event in San Antonio.

In the latter part of 2023, Hicks competed in a few trap shooting events where he fared very well after competition ended.

On Sept. 23, he tied for third place individual male shooter and the Hughes Springs’ team placed second overall at the Simms’ trap shoot meet.

On Oct. 18, he tied for first-place individual male shooter, won first place high-point male on Oct. 25 and placed second as the individual high-point male on Nov. 9.

Hicks graduated from Hughes Springs High School on May 17, and plans to attend Northeast Texas Community College (NTCC) before going on to Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA).
