Flash flood warning for Sussex and Warren counties until Wednesday night
On Wednesday at 7:18 p.m. a flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 11:30 p.m. for Sussex and Warren counties. "At 7:18 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," explains the weather service. "Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low-lying areas."

Rockquan Richburg, 22, was arrested in Jersey City and charged with Armed Robbery while Carlton P Hocutt, 30, was arrested in Paterson and charged with Robbery. Monster Run Classic in Monticello set for August 4th
MONTICELLO – The Monticello Rotary Club 46th annual Monster Run Classic will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 4th at Resorts World Catskills in Monticello. The proceeds from the 2024 Monster Classic race will benefit the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition and is an event run by Monticello Rotary as part of Sullivan County Patriots Day. The race consists of 5K and 10K running and 5K walk events for the whole family. This course proves to be challenging and is considered by many one of the best run/walk courses in the area.
Two-year-old dies after being left inside car in Monticello
MONTICELLO - A 2-year-old died Tuesday evening after being left inside a car in Monticello in Sullivan County. Village of Monticello police reported Wednesday that officers responded to a 911 report of a child in cardiac arrest inside a vehicle outside a building at the Sleepy Hollow Apartment Complex on Terri Lane around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Monticello celebrates launch of new Fitness Court with ribbon cutting ceremony
MVP Health Care, Monticello Central School District (Monticello CSD) and National Fitness Campaign (NFC) launched an outdoor Fitness Court® at Monticello High School earlier today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The MVP Health Care Fitness Court will now provide the campus and greater Monticello community with increased access to outdoor exercise programs. Monticello CSD became the first school district partner to officially join the MVP Health Care campaign in New York.
Historic Ship La Amistad Will Soon Dock in Kingston
KINGSTON – Hudson River Maritime Museum announced that it will host the Amistad Saturday, August 3-Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at their Kingston Waterfront campus. The 129-foot schooner is a replica of the 19th century ship, La Amistad, which became widely known for the 1839 uprising of enslaved captives from Sierra Leone who overthrew the crew and commandeered the ship into waters off the coast of New York. MAMAKATING – Two people have been arrested following a traffic stop on Route 17 west in the Town of Mamakating on weapons possession charges.
