Two Charged After Children Found Living in Deplorable Conditions
A well-being check of two children at an apartment on Jamestown's west side Sunday evening resulted in two arrests. Jamestown Police were called to the scene at about 9:30 PM and located 22-year-old Abigail Thompson inside the residence. Thompson, who had an order of protection to stay away from the residence of three victims who were present, was taken into custody without incident. Officers noted that the apartment was in deplorable condition and unsuitable for children to live there. 24-year-old Austin Wynn was also arrested because he allegedly knew about the condition of the apartment and allowed children to live there. Both suspects were charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, plus a quality of life City Code violation due to the amount of human and animal feces inside the apartment, which contributed to extremely unsanitary conditions for surrounding apartments. Thompson was also charged with three counts of 2nd-degree criminal contempt. Both were held in the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.
