The heat won't get in the way of summertime fun on the South Shore this weekend.
Hull will host its long-running Harbor Illumination, where attendees will light the harbor with more than 1,000 flares celebrating Hull's maritime heritage.
Looking for creative demonstrations? Members of the Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners will show their craft at the Norwell Public Library, and there will be 18th-century living history demos at Edaville.

The Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners will offer a presentation and a demonstration. Woodturning is a form of woodworking where hand-held tools and a wood lathe are used to turn a piece of wood into an object. Using lathes, group members Jeff Keller and Ken Whiting will demonstrate how to turn wooden tops. They will give away the wooden tops made at the demo.
Celebrate Christmas in summer at Edaville in Carver
Edaville will host special events and theme nights each Saturday night this summer. Attendees might also see Santa enjoying himself at the park in his offseason. The theme this week is 18th Century Living History Demo & Master at Arms.

Beachmas in July will have several dozen craft vendors and will be a chance to start holiday shopping. There will be vendors both indoors and outdoors at the Sons of Italy.
Hull Harbor Illumination

- Where: Hull Lifesaving Museum, 1117 Nantasket Ave.
- Tickets/admission: Free to attend. $10 for an individual flare, $300 for a "forever flare" that will be lit each year

More than 1,000 flares with personalized messages light up Hull Harbor each year beginning at 8:30 p.m. The Hull Lifesaving Museum will hold a Coast Guard Commemoration at 5 p.m. An open house at the museum will follow from 6 to 8 p.m.

Drag queens Lakia Mondale, Billie Jean and Crystal Ross will perform at the Barrel House Babes Drag Show. Food trucks will be available.
