North Iowa Fair concludes on Sunday
“A World of Wows” was the theme for the 2024 edition of the fair, held annually in Mason City at the North Iowa Events Center and Fairgrounds. This year’s RAGBRAI route may not be the Walk of Fame — but it will take on some Hollywood flavor in an Iowa sort of way. Cyclists will roll through Greenfield and Winterset, both having been the settings of major Hollywood movies. And if those cinematic ties weren’t enough, the route also goes through the birth town of one of Tinseltown’s biggest stars of all.
RAGBRAI to Make Way Through Greenfield Tomorrow
The biggest bicycling event for the state of Iowa is underway. Tomorrow, the bicyclists taking part in the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) will make their way through Adair County, with Greenfield being the midday stop. The route through Greenfield has changed since the city was originally chosen as a stop, allowing bicyclists to tour through areas that were in the path of the May 21st tornado that devastated a mile long stretch of the town in a minute.
