Acting United States Attorney Susan Lehr has announced that Eric L. Eggers, a resident of Oxford, Nebraska, aged 39, has been sentenced on December 19, 2023, in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska for the crime of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentencing was carried out by Senior United States District Judge John M. Gerrard, who imposed a prison term of 36 months on Eggers. On August 24, 2022, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Eggers' residence in Furnas County, Nebraska. During the course of the search, a total of 16 firearms were discovered by the officers. Eggers openly admitted that he was aware of the presence of these firearms in his residence and that he intentionally possessed them. He further acknowledged that he was fully aware that he was prohibited by law from owning or possessing firearms due to a previous felony conviction in 2012.

The investigation into this case was conducted jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Furnas County Sheriff's Office.
