Chicago Man Sentenced to Prison for Interstate Cocaine Trafficking

On June 11, 2024, a Chicago resident named Anthony Cook, aged 55, was handed a federal court sentence. He will serve 46 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. This comes after Cook was found guilty of violating federal narcotics laws. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand. The court heard that Cook had supplied more than five kilograms of cocaine to two cocaine distributors in the Western District of Pennsylvania. He personally transported the drugs from Chicago to Pennsylvania.

Leading the prosecution on behalf of the government was Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan D. Lusty.

United States Attorney Olshan expressed his gratitude to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, and Perryopolis Police Department for their efforts in investigating and successfully prosecuting Cook.

This prosecution forms a crucial component of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). The primary objective of OCDETF is to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the most prominent drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that pose a threat to the United States. Achieving this goal involves adopting a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, and multi-agency approach that capitalizes on the unique capabilities of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in combating criminal networks.
