U.S. District Judge Sara E. Hill has imposed a sentence of 480 months in prison on Rahmon Lawrence Macon, Jr., a resident of Tulsa. Following his imprisonment, Macon will also be subject to 5 years of supervised release. Macon's sentence comes as a result of his guilty plea to the charge of Second Degree Murder in Indian Country.

According to U.S. Attorney Clint J. Johnson, Macon's actions were characterized by recklessness and carelessness, ultimately resulting in the unfortunate death of an innocent bystander named Aliza Crook. Johnson expressed his hope that this conviction would provide some form of justice for the loved ones of Aliza, who bravely testified in court today.

According to legal records, in November 2022, CCTV footage captured Macon arriving at a petrol station and stepping out of his vehicle to engage in a verbal dispute with an individual. Subsequently, the said individual entered his car, wherein 19-year-old Aliza Crook was seated, and swiftly drove away. Macon proceeded to discharge multiple rounds from a handgun towards the fleeing vehicle, tragically striking Aliza in the head and causing her demise. Numerous bystanders positively identified Macon as the perpetrator of this heinous act. Following his apprehension, evidence emerged indicating that Macon Jr. made attempts to discourage witnesses from cooperating with the FBI.

Due to his previous criminal charges, Macon endured several stints in incarceration within the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Eventually, he was granted release in May 2022. However, around six months following his liberation, Macon tragically took the life of Aliza Crook by firing a fatal shot.

As a member of the Cherokee Nation, Macon will be held in custody until he is transferred to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

After Aliza Crook passed away, her family displayed immense generosity by donating her heart, kidneys, and liver, ultimately saving the lives of two individuals.

The case was thoroughly investigated by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, as well as the Tulsa Police Department. The prosecution of the case was carried out by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Niko Boulieris and Adam Bailey.

This particular case is included in Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that unites law enforcement at all levels and the communities they serve in order to decrease instances of violent crime and gun violence and create safer neighborhoods for all residents. On May 26, 2021, the Department implemented an enhanced strategy within PSN to combat violent crime, which is based on several key principles. These principles include promoting trust and legitimacy within our communities, providing support to community-based organizations that work towards preventing violence, establishing targeted and strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating the outcomes of these efforts.
