A 19-year-old man named Walter C. Moore, who has a criminal record, has been alleged to have committed a drug robbery while armed with a machine gun in St. Louis County, Missouri.

On Wednesday, Moore pleaded not guilty to several charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a machine gun, robbery, and possessing a machine gun with the intent of committing a violent crime.

According to an indictment filed on June 5, Moore is accused of robbing an individual involved in the sale of controlled substances on April 25.

A motion has been filed requesting that Moore be held in custody until his trial. The motion states that he was carrying a Glock pistol that had been modified with a "switch," or auto sear, which converts it into a fully automatic weapon. Additionally, the Glock was equipped with an extended magazine and a laser sight

The allegations stated in an indictment are simply claims and do not serve as evidence of someone's guilt. Each individual accused is considered innocent unless proven otherwise.

If found guilty of using a machine gun in the commission of a violent crime, the minimum prison sentence is 30 years.

The investigation of this case was conducted by both the St. Louis County Police Department and the FBI. Prosecution of the case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zachary Bluestone.

This case is a component of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that unites law enforcement agencies at all levels and the communities they serve in order to decrease violent crime and gun violence, ultimately creating safer neighborhoods for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department initiated an enhanced strategy for reducing violent crime by reinforcing PSN's fundamental principles. These principles include building trust and credibility within our communities, providing support to community-based organizations that work towards preventing violence proactively, establishing targeted and strategic enforcement priorities, and evaluating the outcomes of these efforts.
