CORNELIUS, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Emergency crews continue to search for a missing swimmer after a drowning on Lake Norman Thursday afternoon.

According to the Huntersville Fire Department and Medic officials, the incident is near the sand bar, west of the Bethel Church Road peninsula.

Just after 7 p.m. Thursday, the Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue called the search a “drowning incident.” On Friday, Huntersville Fire reported first responders were back out on the lake.

Law Enforcement is urging all boaters to stay away from Marker D4 and the ‘Sandbar Lake Norman’ area while the search is ongoing.

Less than two hours before Thursday’s report, Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue reminded boaters to stay safe on the lake for the Fourth of July.
