HUNTINGBURG, Ind. (WEHT) – League Stadium is famous for being the main site for the movie, “A League of Their Own”. Now the Dubois County Bombers have a player that’s living out the movie in real life.

Olivia Pichardo is the only woman to ever play Division 1 Baseball. She plays at Brown University and for the summer of 2024, she wears a Bombers uniform. Pichardo is happy to be playing at the stadium as a fan of the movie.

“It was cooler for me because I’m a movie buff, rather than the symbolism,” said Pichardo.

Pichardo didn’t hesitate when asked why she never switched to softball.

“I was good at baseball and didn’t see a reason to switch sports,” said Pichardo.

The Bombers coach, Travis LaMar, said fans get extra loud when she makes a play.

“Even when we go on the road, you can hear the opposing fans all cheering for her,” said LaMar.

The Bombers organization emphasized how excited they’ve been continuing the legacy of League Stadium in this way.
