HUNTINGDON, Pa. (WTAJ)–Huntingdon got in the Independence Day spirit with the annual fireworks show Wednesday night.

The show is put on every year at Flag Pole Hill. The show was started by Bob Geissinger almost 30 years ago, and his family has worked to keep it going since he passed in 2020.

This year over 200 people and businesses donated to make the show happen. Geissinger’s daughter, Chris Dixon, said the event is a great way for everyone to come together.

“It’s just the celebration of our wonderful country,” Dixon said. “It just brings people together and it’s just nothing like it. It just makes people happy.”

Dixon says that a portion of the money they raise also goes toward putting up flags throughout Huntingdon for different holidays and the town’s Christmas lights.
