Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Beach Club Extension, The Sand Bar Is Now Open

It just got easier for beachgoers to experience the ultimate SoCal beach day with Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Beach Club extension, the Sand Bar, now open in Huntington Beach. Located directly across Pacific Coast Highway from The Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton Hotel, the Sand Bar was designed by Rock-and-Roll Restaurateur Sammy Hagar to take the party to the beach and offer a slice of paradise directly on the sand. Guests can enjoy bold flavors and ocean vibes with a variety of craft cocktails, coastal Mexican favorites, Texas-style barbeque, and gourmet pizza, served on one of Southern California’s most picturesque and captivating beaches.

“Cabo Wabo Beach Club extension, the Sand Bar, takes the energy and creativity of our resort restaurant experience directly to the golden sands of Huntington Beach,” comments Paulette Fischer, General Manager of The Waterfront Beach Resort in a statement. “This outlet builds on our partnership with Sammy Hagar, who has become known for building reputable restaurant and spirits industries, and we are confident that it will quickly become an integral part of the beach community.”

The Sand Bar features 100 seats on a 2,100-square-foot patio, which offers full-service dining. Counter service is available for those who prefer to take their meal to enjoy on the sand. The restaurant offers year-round dining Wednesday through Sunday, and holidays, from noon till sunset (time will vary according to season).

“The Cabo Wabo brand was born on the beaches of Cabo San Lucas, so it only seems fitting to have it return to its roots with this new oceanfront extension,” explained Hagar, who simultaneously celebrates the one-year anniversary of Cabo Wabo Beach Club, an elevated take on his world-famous Cabo Wabo Cantina, located at The Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach. “As an Orange County resident, I have enjoyed many sun-filled days and magical sunsets on Huntington Beach, and adding great food, cocktails and music completes the experience.”

The Sand Bar menu is designed to satisfy a wide variety of palates, with something for everyone. Starters include coastal Mexican favorites, Coctel de Camarones, a south-of-the-border shrimp cocktail with jalapeno and avocado, and Grilled Esquites, fresh-grilled whole corn on the cob with sea salt mayo, chili lime and chipotle. Texas-style Brisket tossed in Cabo Wabo BBQ sauce is a sandwich option, alongside Sausage Link and Smoked Turkey Breast, all offered with choice of pickles, marinated red onion or Bibb lettuce on a brioche or pretzel bun. Those who prefer a burger will find a beachside Chuck Burger with cheddar and garlic aioli, served on a pepper brioche with smoked garlic parmesan fries.

Adding a “slice of paradise” to the menu are a selection of 14” gourmet pizzas, featuring extra virgin olive oil, San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, garlic, oregano and Parmigiano-Reggiano. Guests have the option of Nuthin’ but Cheese, with fresh mozzarella; Pepperoni, a meat-lover’s go-to; and Mediterranean Vegetable, with bell peppers, red onion, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes.

The Sand Bar’s savory menu offerings are rounded out with shareables, including Sand Bar Spicy Potato Salad, Grilled Pineapple & Vanilla Cole Slaw, Smoked Garlic-Parmesan French Fries, and Smoked Brisket Ends. Sweet endings include Mexican favorites, Coco Tres Leches Cake, Warm Churros Funnel Cake, and Paletas (Coconut, Strawberry, and Mango).

As an extension of the Cabo Wabo Beach Club, the Sand Bar offers a full bar. Signature and Slushy cocktails feature fresh, house-made ingredients and distinctly Mexican flavors, including house-made michelada mix, habanero-lime-cantaloupe syrup, mango puree, chamoy, and tajin. Hagar’s award-winning, top-shelf spirits are prominent on the bar menu with Sweating in the Shade and Mezgarita both featuring Santo Tequila, his brand with TV personality Guy Fieri. Rum-based cocktails Purple Rocker, Tropical Paradise, Toes in the Sand, and Sunkiss’d all feature Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, made from pure cane sugar in Puerto Rico. In addition, Cabo Wabo Sand Bar boasts a focused list of canned beer, seltzers, and wines for on-site consumption.

Located adjacent to the Sand Bar is Waterfront Adventures, a kiosk that feeds a sense of adventure with everything from specialty bike rentals, to surfboards, boogie boards and wetsuits. Waterfront Adventures’ selection of specialty bikes includes powerful electric bikes, family friendly four-wheel surrey cycles, classic beach cruisers, tandem bikes, kids’ bikes, and comfortable recumbent specialty cycles. Every rental comes with complimentary helmet, lock, and choice of bag or basket.

Additionally, Waterfront Adventures offers beach equipment rentals, including beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and sand toys.

Just steps from the Sand Bar, the already captivating oceanfront setting can be transformed into luxurious oasis with a shaded cabana on the sand for guests to enjoy, complete with beach butler service. Private cabanas include deluxe loungers, beach towels, and beverage service from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Guests are invited to partake in a quintessential Southern California experience – a bonfire on the beach! Available for reservation are cozy firepits, surrounded by red Adirondack chairs and blazing tiki torches. A designated “beach butler” will light and extinguish the fire and deliver snacks and beverages from The Waterfront Beach Resort’s Surf Hero Marketplace, while guests make their own s’mores with provided roasting sticks, graham crackers, milk chocolate, and marshmallows. Bonfire packages may be reserved for 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily for up to 15 guests per firepit (based on availability).

Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Beach Club extension, the Sand Bar, is now open Wednesday through Sunday from Noon to Sunset (closed Monday and Tuesday, except holidays). The restaurant is located at 21351 Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach (directly across PCH from The Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton Hotel. Parking is $15 in the beachside parking lot (street parking also available along Pacific Coast Highway).
