Propane leak causes evacuation in Tuesday’s storm
WILLIAMSBURG, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — In Williamsburg, a tree came down on a 500 gallon propane tank and vehicle. The propane tank was reported to be nearly full and as a result of the leak and resulting high levels of gas in the areas, residents were evacuated to the Anne T. Dunphy School. Shay Hamel ‘26, a junior at Westfield State University, is majoring in elementary education with a minor in Spanish. Her passion for Spanish began in middle school and continued through high school, leading her to pursue the language at the collegiate level. Hamel is a third-generation Westfield State student, following in the footsteps of her grandfather and mother, who were also elementary education majors. Because of the University’s well-known reputation for offering high-quality education at an affordable rate, Hamel said that the choice to pursue elementary education here was easy.
