Hours Extended for Spray Parks, Pool, Beaches

The Town of Huntington has extended hours for pool, beach and splash park hours through next week because of the heat wave.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Sunday, warning of heat index values of 95-100 degrees.

Through June 27, the hours are:

Cooling centers

• The Dix Hills Ice Rink will be open from 12 PM- 8 PM
• The Town of Huntington Senior Center (Flanagan Center) will be open until 4 PM

Beaches: Crab Meadow, West Neck, Hobart, and Centerport Beaches will be open with stationed lifeguards until 8 PM.

Pools: The Dix Hills pool will be open to Town Residents only from 11 AM – 8 PM, Saturday and Sunday and 12:30 PM – 8 PM, Monday – Thursday.  Town Rec. Cards are available at the Dix Hills Ice Rink.

Spray Parks: Elwood and Manor Field Spray Parks will be open until 11 AM – 8PM. (Spray Parks Open at 10:00 AM for Children with Special Needs)

Around town Friday, some pedestrians shielded themselves from the sun with hats or  umbrellas; workers on a Depot Road parking lot project guzzled down water.
