Severe storms leave thousands without power in Idaho, eastern Oregon
Boise, ID (CBS2) — Thousands across the Treasure Valley and eastern Oregon are without power after severe thunderstorms moved through the area. Idaho Power is reporting outages from Baker City Oregon to Placerville Idaho due to the thunderstorms rolling through the area bringing 70-mile-per-hour winds, hail, lightning, and some rain.

Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) temporarily banned campfires at most Oregon State Parks due to dry conditions and the strain on firefighting resources from wildfires burning across the state. Campfires and open flames are banned at all parks east of the Cascades due to the low humidity and risk of wildfires. Wells Fargo plans to lay off 95 more workers in Hillsboro, the bank said Tuesday. The company, which remains a large regional employer, laid off 316 call center workers in the Portland suburb last year. Wells Fargo didn’t say when the layoffs will take place but indicated they will be complete by Sept. 20.
