Locally built and owned F/V Sea Lion III still plying coastal waters for crab and salmon
The fishing vessel Sea Lion III has been part of Newport’s fishing fleet since the 1950s. The 47-foot vessel was made locally by E.M. Gerttula in 1943. Ownership changed hands over the years and belonged to Dutch Niemi of Mo’s Enterprises and as of 2010 belonged to Paul Stannard.

Just after 2 a.m., deputies responded to the report of a stabbing in the 20800 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. Deputies arrived to the scene and found a man with a serious injury.

Update: Flash flood warning affecting Baker and Malheur counties Wednesday night
An updated flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 9:16 p.m. in effect until 11:30 p.m. for Baker and Malheur counties. "At 9:16 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Cow Valley, Durkee, and Badland Burn Scar. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," states the weather service. "Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Cow Valley, Durkee, and Badland Burn Scar."
