HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was beaten and robbed in a parking lot after a suspect wanted to exchange stolen beer for money and cigarettes.

On July 2, 2024, around 3:36 AM, Huntington Police responded to the parking lot beside 804 6th Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia, where a male victim had been beaten and robbed.

Upon arrival, Police found the man standing in the parking lot, appearing confused and unsteady on his feet, with drying blood on his face, head, and hands. When the Police initially asked him what had happened, he could not respond. Concerned he might fall and further injure himself, the Police instructed him to sit down.

When Police asked what he last remembered, the victim replied, “Walking.” Police observed swelling and bleeding above his right eye, right ear, and hairline. There was also a piece of gray concrete and a 2×2 piece of lumber near him in the parking lot.

As they waited for EMS, Police continued questioning the victim. His speech was slurred, and he appeared to have significant memory loss after the incident.

Soon after, the suspect, Quinton Lucas, approached the officers and stated, “He called me the n-word and had knives on him, so we fought.” When Mr. Lucas saw the victim, he identified him as the assailant. Mr. Lucas was then placed under arrest.

The victim was able to provide more details at the hospital. He said Mr. Lucas had approached him in the parking lot, offered him stolen beers, and then demanded his cigarettes and money. When the victim refused, he believed Mr. Lucas hit him with a rock and a 2×2 piece of lumber, knocking him unconscious. After regaining consciousness, Mr. Lucas returned and demanded the victim unlock his stolen phone but fled before the Police arrived.

Lucas was charged with robbery and malicious assault.
