Huntington Children’s Museum holds grand opening

HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) – The Huntington Children’s Museum held their grand opening Saturday.

Located at 1700 Washington Avenue, the focus of the museum is to inspire and educate children through fully interactive exhibits.

According to the executive director for the Huntington Children’s Museum, Raine Klover, it took three years of hard work to get the museum up and running, but seeing the children’s faces when playing makes all the time and energy spent worth it.

“It has been so much hard work, but watching children interact with our exhibits, and watching them get ideas and their brains growing right in front us has been wonderful,” Klover said.

The museum features exhibits such as an indoor climbing room, an interactive sand table and a water table where children can learn the basics of buoyancy and perpetual motion, to name a few.

The children’s museum has received strong community support, with many people attending their opening day.

“It’s really gratifying to see how many people are coming on our grand opening day and supporting this new endeavor. We’re really excited by the response that we’ve had from the community and are excited to see what happens moving forward,” Klover said.

The Huntington Children’s Museum will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission costs $10 per person, but children 1 and under get in free. The Huntington Children’s Museum is also a partner with Museums For All, meaning that families who are enrolled in the W.I.C. or S.N.A.P. programs will be charged $2 per person.
