Tri-State Transit Authority introduces three new buses at Pullman Square

HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Representatives with the Tri-State Transit Authority were on hand at Huntington’s Pullman Square on Thursday where three new buses were introduced.

Huntington Mayor and Democratic Gubernatorial candidate, Steve Williams was present for the event along with members of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce and Cabell County Commissioner John Mandt Jr., who commended the work of the members of the Tri-State Transit Authority.

“As a Cabell County Commissioner, I enjoyed participating in the TTA Bus dedication today,” said Mandt. “Paul Davis, Jennifer Woodall, and the rest of the TTA team do an outstanding job [of] timely transportation for the people of Cabell County.”

Two of the three newly presented vehicles are Trolley buses, while one is a standard Tri-State Transit Authority bus. These updated vehicles are 35 and 30-foot models, respectively, and feature clean diesel technology adhering to the latest Clean Air Standards policies.

These new buses were manufactured by the Gillig Corporation of Livermore, California and seat 32 passengers. The vehicles can also accommodate two passengers with wheelchairs, as well as two bicycles which can be mounted on a front rack for transport.

Additional technologies implemented within the new buses promote increased security and safety. These additions include the utilization of multiple video cameras which can capture activity on both the inside and outside areas of the bus.

Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, Tri-State Transit Authority Board member, and Huntington Mayoral candidate, Jennifer Wheeler was in attendance for the event as well and expressed enthusiasm at the development.
