HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Huntington Children’s Museum.

In attendance for the ceremony were City of Huntington Mayor Steve Williams and City Councilman Todd Sweeney, both of whom serve as representatives for the city district which now serves as the location for the children’s museum. The pair presented the museum with a $20,000 check during the ceremony.

“Change happens when you see a need, and instead of complaining about it, you decide you are the one who is going to fill it,” said Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Tricia Ball of the new addition.

A 501c3 nonprofit organization, the museum seeks to foster curiosity and learning through interactive exhibits which have been designed to engage the minds of the youth. Such exhibits featured as part of the museum include an interactive sand table, a water table, a stop-motion video creation station, and indoor climbing area.

Details pertaining to upcoming HCM events and educational programs can be found at the Huntington Children’s Museum website .
