    Putnam Aging’s Senior Picnic celebrates Christmas in July

    HURRICANE, WV (WOWK) – There are 153 days left until Christmas, but who’s counting? While the season may seem far away, some people in the City of Huntington are celebrating a bit early and getting into the Christmas spirit.

    The Putnam Aging’s annual Senior Picnic took place Thursday to celebrate Christmas in July. The event offers a holly jolly time to enjoy a free lunch, door prizes, browse through vendors and more!

    “We have community-based organizations set up booths to give information about services and supports available to seniors and the community,” said Jenni Sutherland, executive director of Putnam Aging. “We have loud music. Our theme this year’s ‘Christmas in July.’ We’ve got photo opportunities and door prizes, cake pops from Valley Cakes, and over 50 different vendors here this year.”

    Putnam Aging was founded in 1975 with the goal of providing seniors with nutritional, social and health-related programs dedicated to enhancing and enriching their quality of life.
