    St. John’s Cemetery was rededicated this week, with Town Historian Robert Hughes and Toby Kissam of the Huntington Historical Society leading a tour and explaining the history of the church and cemetery. Volunteers and supporters are need: f you’re interested in helping St. John’s Church with funding and/or volunteer support for work on the cemetery, call the parish office at 631-427-1752 to learn more.

    Happy 100th
    The Harborfields Public Library celebrated its 100th anniversary last weekend,  with music, speeches and more. Councilwoman Theresa Mari, Councilman Dr. Dave Bennardo and Town Clerk Andrew Raia were among the town officials who participated in the celebration.

    Hockey for Charity

    “Hockey Helps” raised money for charities with a recent 24-hour marathon of games at the  Clark Gillies Arena at Dix Hills Park.

    Suffolk Legislator Stephanie Bontempi, R-18th,  appointed Kieran Johnson of the Huntington Arts Council to the county’s Citizens Advisory Board, which makes reconmmendations on grants and awards to cultural organizations.

    Coindre Hall Tour

    Suffolk County legislators and State Assemblyman Keith Brown recently toured Coindre Hall in Huntington for a look at the historic property and ways to protect the property in the future.

    Saying Hi to Walt

    Suffolk County Legislator Rebecca Sanin, D-16th, recently toured the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association in Huntington Station and met with Caitlyn Shea, the new executive director of the WWBA.

    Playground Reopens

    Town, state and county officials joined inthe ribbon cutting to open the Sheryl Steinberg Collins playground at Heckscher Park. It had been closed for months for upgrades, including making it accessible to kids of all abilities.
