Focus on Healing as Part of National Recovery Month

Friends and families of those lost to drugs or battling addiction gathered Saturday at Heckscher Park to connect, remember their loved ones, and join a walk for wellness.

To kick off the event, the Town Opioid and Addiction Task Force unveiled Hope and Healing, a new sculpture by Susan Buroker.

Vendors that offer treatment services, such as Samaritan Daytop Village and WellLife Network, offered attendees about their programs, while speakers, including Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds of the Family & Children’s Association, talked about treatment and recovery.

The band Soghat performed from the Harry Chapin stage.

Saturday’s event was one of a series of activities that were part of “Huntington Goes Purple” marking the scourge of drug addiction.
