Family and friends of the late civic leader Dolores “Dee” Thompson participated in a memorial ceremony earlier this week at the Northwell Family Health Center at Huntington.

She died on Sept. 20, 2023.

She was active in multiple causes around Huntington, including the Huntington Hospital board and the family health center, as well as housing, education, economic matters and civil rights issues.

Officials placed a plaque on the wall of the family health center in her honor. The ceremony brought out Assemblyman Steve Stern, District Attorney Ray Tierney, hospital officials and Thompson’s daughter, Tracey Edwards, and many others to celebrate her life.
