Turkey Drive Fundraiser Draws Hundreds of Supporters

More than 300 people showed up Thursday night to help raise funds for the Sorrentino Family Thanksgiving meal drive in Huntington.

Gathering at the Dix Hills Fire Department, the guests included a range of residents, elected officials and others eager to support the Thanksgiving drive. A deejay provided music while guests sampled foods from a buffet.

Andre Sorrentino, Huntington’s superintendent of highways and his family have operated the huge drive for 16 years, providing turkeys and other foods to complete a Thanksgiving meal to scores of residents in need.

The giveaway is scheduled for a few days before Thanksgiving.
