Motorcyclist, 21, Killed in Elwood Crash

A Huntington motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a crash with a car on East Jericho Turnpike in Elwood.

Suffolk police said that Alexis Ascencio Luna was operating a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle east on Jericho when he collided with a westbound 2014 Toyota Corolla that was making a left turn into a driveway in front of 1500 East Jericho Turnpike at about 3:40 p.m.

Ascencio Luna, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, Elvin Vargas Hernandez, 34, of Central Islip, was taken to Huntington Hospital for evaluation and released.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
