    Event to Honor Saxophonist Pat DeRosa

    The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame will honor the late saxophonist Pat DeRosa on Oct. 19.

    His daughter Patricia DeRosa will host the event, which includes a video/interview presentation, with a Q&A with is daughter and granddaughter, raffle for all attendees, and a live performance played by his family and friends. The event is scheduled for 2pm to 3pm at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in Stony Brook Village, at 97 Main St., Stony Brook. The event is free with general admission ticket purchase.

    DeRosa was a long-time music teacher on Long Island, with 27 years at the Huntington school district, and also the Guiness Book of World Record Holder for the ‘Oldest Professional Saxophone Player’. He was inducted into LIMEHOF in 2021.

    DeRosa, who died last year at the age of 101, played with some of the all-time greats, including as a member of Glenn Miller’s Army Air Force band during World War II, and as a duet partner with the John Coltrane.  In addition to his own performances, he taught music in both the Huntington and South Huntington school districts.
