Stevensville to fix Father Ravalli Park fence
After more than three years, the Town of Stevensville is finally looking to do something about the fence in front of Father Ravalli Park. A popular location for soccer and t-ball games, around three years ago the park also added a playground. During that project, a stretch of the fence was folded back, out of the way. This was done to allow vehicles and construction equipment to more easily enter the park to build the playground. After the project was finished, the fence was never returned to normal. This has led to some concern from the Stevensville community about the overall look of the park since the project.
Upcoming Hazmat Training Exercise at the University of Montana Western
Dates: Setup on Wednesday, July 17, with the exercise occurring on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Location: The area between the Bulldog Athletic and Recreation Center (BARC) and the new stadium. The campus Heating Plant will also be utilized during this exercise. Foot traffic is to be expected by military personnel between the Heating Plant and the BARC area throughout the exercise.

CALGARY, Alberta, Canada — Helena's Ty Erickson, Miles City's Haven Meged and former Montana State cowboy Chase Dougherty were all victorious at the Calgary Stampede. On Sunday, the PRCA reported there were 20,000-plus fans at GMC Stadium. Powell Baseball Player Set To Return After Suffering Life-Threatening Rattlesnake Bite
Powell resident Jhett Schwahn, 19, is thankful he always wears long pants when he hikes. Earlier this month, it might’ve saved his life from a rattlesnake bite. On July 8, Schwahn and his girlfriend were hiking down from the summit of 8,123-foot Heart Mountain in northwest Wyoming when Schwahn was suddenly bitten by a rattlesnake in the late afternoon hours. He heard no rattle from the reptile that pounced out from a bush near the trail.

Junior Ranger education day at Pictograph Cave State Park, July 19. Pictograph Cave State Park is hosting a Junior Ranger program on Friday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is required for the event and space is limited. This free, hands-on program will feature activities and lessons on local animal identification and habitats, geology and pictographs. The program is open to all ages but is best suited for youth 6-12 years old.
