Looks like Mark Chesnutt's road to recovery is going quite well. The iconic '90s country singer was forced to put his music career on the back burner back in June when serious health complications arose. The 60-year-old singer suffered some sort of issue with his heart, and had no choice but to undergo an emergency quadruple bypass surgery.
Chesnutt was hospitalized following the surgery - which was successful - and put out a statement at the time about having to cancel upcoming shows: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming shows. I send my love and gratitude to my family and friends, the band and fans for your understanding, prayers and support, and look forward to seeing you all again soon at a honky tonk near you.” https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8XrOBfvl5s/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=a3341cbe-de5f-4acf-9f1b-a0ffe504bae3 The "Too Cold At Home" singer had been open about his health struggles prior to the surgery, but never disclosed what exactly he was dealing with. Chesnutt was also hospitalized back in late 2023
and had to postpone shows that he had scheduled then as well. A week after his surgery, Chesnutt also shared this message with his fans on social media: "Well folks, doc says I got a new heart! I’m recovering comfortably at home with my family. Today we sat on the porch just soaking in the sun and that beautiful Texas weather. But I can’t wait to get back to pickin’ and singin’ with all my favorite fans! Thank you for all the well wishes and prayers. They have helped and meant the world to me in my time of need. I appreciate you all so very much. See yuh soon!" And he wasn't kidding when he said "see you soon." Just over a month after his serious, life-saving surgery, Chesnutt has made it known that he plans to get back out on the road and performing in front of his fans. The '90s country artist will be a part of tribute concert to Dean Dillon on October 9th in Huntsville, Alabama. The show, titled "Songs and Stories of Dean Dillon," will be a filmed-for-TV event, and will release as a special sometimes afterwards. Chesnutt is set to play with a number of huge names in country, including George Strait, Vince Gill, Riley Green, Justin Moore, Ronnie Dunn, Larry Fleet, Jamey Johnson, ERNEST, Zach Top, and even Dean Dillon himself. Dillon, of course, is the legendary songwriter behind many of George Strait's biggest hits, including songs like "The Chair" and "Ocean Front Property." It'll be great to see Chesnutt back out there doing his thing, and it's awesome knowing that he's already making plans to return to stage a month after his serious heart surgery.
