RLast month, Mark Chesnutt canceled several tour appearances due to a serious health issue. He had to undergo emergency quadruple bypass surgery. As a result, he had to step back from the stage to have the operation and recover. Now, though, the “Bubba Shot the Jukebox” hitmaker is ready to get back on the road. Yesterday (July 16), he announced that he’ll be back at it in October.

Yesterday, Chesnutt took to Instagram to share the good news with his fans and followers. The post shows that he’ll be performing at an event celebrating Country Music Hall of Famer and legendary songwriter Dean Dillon. Songs and Stories of Dean Dillon takes place at the Probst Arena in Huntsville Alabama on October 9.

Mark Chesnutt Will Perform with a “New Heart”

The country star announced his return to the stage exactly one month after having emergency heart surgery. In June, his team shared news of his health issues on social media. “Mark Chessnut, one of the most signature country music voices of the ‘90s and a honky tonk mainstay for more than three decades, experienced a heart health issue over the weekend that hospitalized him Sunday evening, June 16,” the post read. “Mark underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery. The recuperation time will make it necessary to cancel show dates,” his team added.

A little more than a week later, Chesnutt returned with a health update. “Well folks, doc says I got a new heart,” he wrote in the post-surgery post. “I’m recovering comfortably at home with my family. Today, we sat on the porch soaking in the sun and that beautiful Texas weather,” he added. “I can’t wait to get back to pickin’ and singin’ with all my favorite fans! Thank you for all the well-wishes and prayers. They have helped and meant the world to me in my time of need,” he added. “I appreciate you all so very much. See yuh soon.”
