Truist Bank is one of the largest banks in the U.S. If you are a customer, you might rely on it to build your wealth and for everything from personal checking to home loans.

However, this year, the bank is closing 72 of its branches across many of the 17 states in which it operates. According to Truist, shutting down these locations will help save the bank $750 million over the next 12 to 18 months.

These closures were all scheduled to take place in March. Truist hasn’t announced all the locations that shut down, but here are some of the Truist Bank locations that have locked their doors for good.

Make Money: 8 things to do if you're barely scraping by financially

    1. Alabama

Alabama is losing two Truist branches at the following addresses:

    • 629 Red Lane Road, Birmingham
    • 3419 Pulaski Pike NW., Huntsville

Alabama’s biggest city — Huntsville — has seen one of its branches close, but it still retains three others.

Birmingham also has lost a Truist branch, but two others remain open in the city.

    2. Georgia

Eight of Truist’s Georgia branches are shuttering this year, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Half of those branches are located in the state’s capital city of Atlanta:

    • 3353 Peachtree Road NE., Atlanta
    • 3790 Princeton Lakes Parkway SW., Atlanta
    • 523 Luckie St. NW., Atlanta
    • 2434 Gresham Road, Suite B, Atlanta

The other four closures are in cities scattered across the state:

    • 2500 E. Walnut Ave., Dalton
    • 3625 Pio Nono Ave., Macon
    • 7575 Highway 85, Riverdale
    • 8725 Roswell Road, Suite G, Sandy Springs

    3. Kentucky

Truist didn’t announce which Kentucky branches it was closing this year, although North Carolina’s Winston-Salem Journal reported the closing of two unspecified Kentucky locations.

Kentucky is home to dozens of Truist Bank locations.

    4. Maryland

At the end of 2023, the Maryland Business Chronicle announced that Truist would close four branches this year:

    • 3901 National Drive, Burtonsville
    • 7701 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt
    • 380 Main St., Laurel
    • 6168 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill

All four of the branches set to close are located in the Washington, D.C., metro area. Customers in the region still have access to dozens of other branches in the metro and more than 100 branches in Maryland itself.

    5. North Carolina

North Carolina — where Truist is headquartered — is the site of four Truist branch closures this year:

    • 201 W. Market St., Greensboro
    • 1310 Battleground Ave., Greensboro
    • 1301 Eastchester Drive, High Point
    • 3410 Robinhood Road, Winston-Salem

In January, the Winston-Salem Journal reported that nine total Truist branches were slated for a 2024 closure in North Carolina, including branches in the cities of Morrisville, Gastonia, Concord, Durham, and Aberdeen.

    6. West Virginia

While it has been reported that West Virginia branches are closing their doors for good this year, the list of locations shuttering has not been announced.

If you learn your branch is closing, you might have to look for a new bank where you can park your money as you try to get ahead financially .

    Bottom line

Although Truist is cutting the branches listed above, the bank has said there will be another Truist location within less than three miles of the shuttered branch in the “vast majority” of cases.

Even if your nearest branch closes, you should still be within driving distance of a physical location — and if not, you can access Truist online 24/7. Or, you can look for a new bank where you can earn more on your savings .
