Huntsville man accused of shooting, injuring teen

HUNTSVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Huntsville man has been arrested after he allegedly shot and injured a teen, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office .

Peyton Dodson, 30, was arrested on Monday on an attempted capital murder charge and 10 counts of a terroristic act.

MCSO said around 8:53 p.m., it received multiple police calls about gunshots at an apartment complex on Madison 8662 Road.

Huntsville police officers and MCSO deputies responded to the incident and found Dodson within a large crowd in the parking lot of the complex, the department said.

An officer and a deputy engaged Dodson after multiple people identified him as the shooter.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, received medical treatment on the scene and was seen “bleeding heavily from a wound to a lower extremity,” MCSO said. He was taken to a nearby emergency trauma center for treatment.

Dodson was taken to the Madison County Holding Facility where he will be held for a probable cause hearing. He has a court date set for September 10.
